Our Story

Amaru's journey is deeply intertwined with the experiences of its founder, Arturo Natella. His venture into talent management and workforce development began at the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center. There, he gained the foundational knowledge that would shape his future efforts.

This foundation was crucial during his work on the Martha Coakley for Governor Campaign. As a leader in the campaign's DEI outreach, Arturo connected with immigrant and BIPOC communities across Massachusetts. The campaign's loss sparked a turning point; Arturo sought guidance from various leaders, particularly those of color. The counsel he received sometimes lacked insight or even proved detrimental to his aspirations for upward mobility. Arturo also encountered community gatekeepers who would hoard information and access.

This stark realization – that existing support systems were inadequate – fueled the creation of Amaru. Starting as a curated job listserv, Amaru offered genuine guidance to those in need.

Arturo honed his expertise further at the Massachusetts State Legislature, specializing in workforce development policy. His true impact flourished at Diversity at Workplace, where he championed inclusive work environments. As a Senior Recruiting Consultant, Arturo:

  • Designed and implemented fully customized, performance and competency-based DEI recruitment training for a prominent Boston-based academic institution, driving significant change in hiring processes.

  • Led the development and facilitation of domestic and international DEI trainings.

  • Conducted DEI cultural and talent acquisition assessments for diverse organizations, providing actionable recommendations.

  • Consulted for non-profits, academia, government, community organizations, and Fortune 500 companies on organizational development, DEI, change management, talent acquisition, and best practices implementation.

  • Spearheaded initiatives focused on both attracting and retaining diverse talent, ensuring lasting organizational change.

  • Led and facilitated the Boston Chamber of Commerce Transformational DEI Certificate, impacting hiring managers and DEI professionals across sectors.

Arturo's commitment to continuous learning led him to fortify further his expertise with certifications such as the Conexión Advancing Latino Leadership Program, AIRS powered by ADP: Certified Diversity and Inclusion Recruiter (CDR), Cornell University: Diversity and Inclusion Certificate, and SHRM People Analytics.

Throughout his career, Amaru steadily evolved. What began as a job list transformed into a full recruiting and job search company. Through our services, Amaru has supported diverse talent in securing over $500,000 in salary through coaching, sourcing, and recruiting. Amaru is seeking to revolutionize hiring by making it more fair and transparent so everyone has an equitable opportunity to get ahead.

Collaborating with the Governor Healey administration, Arturo – through Amaru – played a pivotal role in sourcing and referring Latino talent statewide. This initiative was executed in partnership with a coalition of five Latino-serving organizations and three state-wide Latino media outlets.

Today, with awards like the 2019 Latinx Amplifier, 2023 ALX100, and COLOR's POWER 40 Under 40, Arturo embodies perseverance, vision, and the impact of true mentorship. Through Amaru, he continues to create equitable job markets, ensuring opportunities for upward mobility and growth for all.
