Our Story

The journey of Amaru began with a moment of clarity. While working on the Martha Coakley for Governor Campaign, founder Arturo Natella witnessed firsthand how traditional career guidance was failing immigrant and BIPOC communities. As he reached out to established leaders for direction, he encountered locked doors instead of open pathways – information hoarded rather than shared, genuine mentorship replaced by superficial advice.

This experience crystallized the challenge that would define Amaru's mission: creating a system where career advancement isn't about who you know, but about your potential to contribute and grow.

What started as a simple job listserv has evolved into something much more profound. Through his work at the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center, the State Legislature, and later as a Senior Recruiting Consultant at Diversity at Workplace, Natella saw both the systemic barriers and the immense untapped potential in communities. Each role strengthened his conviction that change was possible – and necessary.

At Diversity at Workplace, he proved that transformation was possible. He developed innovative DEI recruitment training programs, conducted cultural assessments that led to real change, and worked across sectors – from non-profits to Fortune 500 companies – to build more inclusive workplaces. Leading the Boston Chamber of Commerce Transformational DEI Certificate program revealed how hungry organizations were for genuine guidance in this space.

But the real story of Amaru isn't about its founder – it's about community. It's about every person who has felt the sting of being overlooked despite their talents. It's about every hiring manager who wants to build a truly high performing team but doesn't know where to start. It's about every community that has watched its brightest minds leave because they couldn't find opportunities close to home.

Through its work, Amaru has helped diverse talent secure over $800,000 in salary increases. The company has partnered with the Healey administration to connect Latino talent with state-wide opportunities, building bridges between communities and employers, creating pathways where none existed before.

But this is just the beginning. The challenge ahead is urgent: in an era of rapid technological and social change, we can't afford to leave any talent on the sidelines. The cost – to individuals, to communities, and to our shared economic future – is too high.

This is why Amaru is working to revolutionize hiring itself. The company envisions a world where transparency isn't just a buzzword, but a fundamental principle of how people find and secure opportunities. Where potential isn't limited by networks, but by aspirations and willingness to work toward them.

The recognition Amaru has received – from the 2019 Latinx Amplifier to the 2023 ALX100 and COLOR's POWER 40 Under 40 – indicates we’re on the right path. But the real measure of success isn't in awards. It's in the careers launched, the families supported, and the communities strengthened through their work.

Join Amaru in building a future where opportunity isn't just a promise, but a reality for all.
